Clemson reserve safety Jake Herbstreit has left the football team to pursue other opportunities, according to a school spokesperson.

Herbstreit was a redshirt sophomore walk-on who was a member of the Tigers’ scout team in 2020 and did not see any game action. He appeared in four games during his redshirt season of 2019.

Jake’s twin brother, Tye, remains a member of the Clemson team. He’s a redshirt sophomore wide receiver who has played in five career games.

Jake and Tye are the sons of Kirk Herbstreit, a college football analyst and commentator on ESPN and ABC and former quarterback at Ohio State.
