Rubel earns Big Sky player of week honor

OGDEN, Utah (AP) — Montana senior guard Kellie Rubel has been named Big Sky Conference women's basketball player of the week.

The Bozeman native scored a season-high 24 points on 5-of-12 shooting and 11-of-12 from the free-throw line to lead the Lady Griz over Portland 69-55.

Rubel went 3-for-4 from behind the arch with all three of her treys coming in the opening six minutes of action. She finished the contest with six rebounds and five assists as Montana improved to an even 4-4 on the season.

Montana returns to action Thursday as the Lady Griz travel to face Seattle in non-conference action.
