Shania Twain congratulates Washington State women on historic Pac-12 title

Man! The Washington State Cougars feel like women.

The team won its first Pac-12 tournament in historic fashion on Sunday and superstar singer Shania Twain congratulated the champions on Twitter.

"Let’s Go Cougs! Congratulations to @WSUCougarWBB on the very deserved #Pac12WBB title win," she wrote on Monday with clapping hands and fire heart emojis.

The Cougars used Twain's triple platinum hit "Man! I Feel Like a Woman" to celebrate their upset win over the No. 2 seed Utah Utes in the quarterfinals of the tournament.

"I’m honored to have been a small part of your journey!! @WSUCougarWBB @pac12 #letsgogirls," she wrote, referencing the song's opening line with a video of the team screaming the lyrics, jumping up and down.

The Cougars were thrilled to have Twain's support and even had a proposition for her to meet up with them around her tour stop in Spokane, Washington. She is currently promoting her new album, "Queen of Me."

"We can’t even begin to tell you how happy this makes us!!!" the team wrote in a Twitter post. "Hey, we see that you’ll be in Spokane on April 28. We’re not that far from there… You feeling a duet with the Cougs that night in Spokane Arena???? #GoCougs | #WAZZU"

The Cougars won the tournament as the No. 7 seed after finishing the regular season 23-10 and going 9-9 in conference play. En route to the title, they beat three ranked teams along the way: No. 4 Utah, No. 21 Colorado and No. 16 UCLA in the championship game.

Junior guard Charlisse Leger-Walker scored 23 points in the final game and finished the tournament with 76 points, a tournament record.

With the win, Washington State gets an automatic bid into the women's NCAA Tournament. Selection Sunday is March 12 and the first round tips off March 17.
