FLORHAM PARK, N.J. – In response to San Francisco 49ers cornerback Carlos Rogers saying the New York Jets' players quit during Sunday's 34-0 Niners victory at MetLife Stadium, Rex Ryan insists that wasn't the case, though he admits his guys were gassed out there.

"If you look late in the game, did we get fatigued? I think we did. I think we wore down a little bit at the end of the game," Ryan told reporters Wednesday. "But there's no quit. You can look at that tape. There'sno quit."

Ryan tried spinning Rogers' comments, made during an interview with Sirius XM NFL Radio Tuesday, as an indication the Jets' opponents have a lot of respect for Ryan's club.

"When you look at it, certainly we didn't play well. It's obvious we didn't play to (Rogers') standards either," Ryan said. "We have a rep in this league as being a tremendous defense and we didn't play that way. That's the big thing.

"As far as us quitting, there's no way. That wasn't the case. We got beat, there's no doubt about it, no two ways about it, and we talked about that."

At least Ryan was willing to admit the obvious: The Jets aren't playing physical football right now.

"My team can't play like this. That's not who we are," he said. "I thought we got beat to the punch. San Francisco was more physical than we were, and that's something we're not accustomed to."
