Cowboys LB Sean Lee could miss the rest of the season

Cowboys linebacker Sean Lee has a toe injury that could force him to miss the rest of the season.

Dallas Cowboys linebacker Sean Lee is expected to miss a few games but could also be out for the rest of the season with a toe injury, according to a person informed of the prognosis for the injury.

The person, who spoke to USA TODAY Sports on condition of anonymity because the Cowboys haven't yet divulged the results of Lee's MRI from earlier this week, said a final decision on Lee's status and whether he'll need surgery has not yet been made.

There were rumblings last year that Lee would be out for the season with a wrist injury. He missed only one game.

Lee, one of the leaders of the Cowboys defense, has been credited with 56 tackles so far this season. He also has one interception and a forced fumble, which came in the regular season opener against the New York Giants.

Veteran linebacker Dan Connor is expected to start in place of Lee this Sunday in the rematch with the Giants.
