FOXBORO, Mass. – New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski has a broken left forearm that will keep him out of action for at least four to six weeks, according to a person informed of the injury.

The person spoke to USA TODAY Sports on condition of anonymity, because the Patriots did not provide an update on Gronkowski's status after Sunday's 59-24 victory over the Indianapolis Colts. It's unclear how or when Gronkowski injured the arm.

He was on the field for the final extra point with 3:55 to play. Lined up as the right wing, he attempted to block a defender that cut inside of him. As he walked off the field, he was favoring his left arm.

Gronkowski did not make an appearance in the postgame locker room during the portion open to the media.

Gronkowski had seven catches for 137 yards and two touchdowns Sunday. He now has 10 touchdowns on the season, which makes him the first tight end in NFL history to record double-digit touchdowns in three consecutive seasons.

The good news for the Patriots is that fellow starting tight end Aaron Hernandez is close to returning from an ankle injury that has kept him out of six of the past eight games.
