Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Sidney Rice (18) makes a touchdown reception with Chicago Bears safety Major Wright (21) covering in overtime to give the Seahawks a 23-17 win over the Bears in an NFL football game in Chicago, Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012. Rice appeared to be out cold after the hit.
  • Seattle won on a last-play TD pass to receiver Sidney Rice, who was knocked out in the end zone
  • After taking the hit, Rice let go of the ball, but a booth review determined it was a TD
  • When the ruling was made, ending the game, Rice was walking on his own

CHICAGO – Sidney Rice was lying in the end zone, his arms locked and apparently out cold after catching a pass and taking a shot to the head at the goal line from Chicago Bears safety Major Wright.

Seattle Seahawks trainers were shoving players out of the way, even ones who were scrambling for a loose ball they believed to be a fumble. Even Seahawks tight end Anthony McCoy angered one of his own trainers by nearly kicking Rice, who was motionless on the ground.

It was a wild ending to the Seahawks' wild 23-17 overtime victory, with Rice being helped to the sideline by Golden Tate, who had caught a touchdown to take the lead late in regulation, as referee Mike Carey made the initial call of touchdown.

When the ruling was upheld following a booth review, Rice was walking on his own toward the Seahawks' locker room, arms in the air. A terrific sign. And an awesome ending for the Seahawks, who maintained their grip on the NFC's sixth seed by getting only their second road victory of the season.

The Bears had plenty of chances to take control of this one but simply refused to do so. Even after Brandon Marshall made a miraculous 56-yard catch in front of cornerback Richard Sherman to set up Robbie Gould's 46-yard game-tying field goal at the end of regulation, Russell Wilson and the Seahawks refused to buckle.

The rookie quarterback used his arms and legs to convert three third downs on the game-winning drive after leading the offense 97 yards for the touchdown to Tate that gave the Seahawks the lead with 24 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter.

Wright could've ended that drive by picking off a rare errant deep ball from Wilson, who hasn't thrown an interception in his past four games. But Rice played the role of the defender to knock it away and prevent the interception.

Wilson then hit Zach Miller for 7 yards on a fourth-and-3 and found Rice for 27 yards to the Bears' 14 with 32 seconds remaining.

On the game-winning touchdown, Rice got inside of cornerback Charles Tillman and just crossed the goal line as Wright drilled him and the ball came loose.

It was a terrible ending for the Bears, especially considering they lost cornerback Tim Jennings and linebacker Brian Urlacher to injuries on that drive. Urlacher was having his right thigh wrapped and Jennings was being evaluated by doctors are taking a brutal hit to the head and neck area as he tried to tackle running back Michael Robinson.
