Ajirotutu fined $27,562 for contact with ref

SAN DIEGO (AP) — San Diego Chargers special teams player Seyi Ajirotutu has been fined $27,562 by the NFL for unsportsmanlike conduct after he was ejected for making contact with an official in Sunday's loss at Miami.

Ajirotutu was ejected in the third quarter after it was ruled he made physical contact with an official during a skirmish following a punt.

The Chargers have their bye Sunday so Ajirotutu wasn't available for comment Friday. He said on Wednesday that he didn't believe he made contact with an official. He didn't expect to be fined, either. He said he noticed other teammates had received fine letters for uniform violations, but said he hadn't received a fine letter.
