San Francisco 49ers-Seattle Seahawks rematch flexed to Sunday night in Week 17

With the NFC West title β€” and possibly a first-round bye in the playoffs β€” on the line, the San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks now will play on NBC's "Sunday Night Football" in Week 17 for the regular season's finale.

The NFL made the official announcement Sunday, even before the Seahawks (11-3) took the field in their home game against the Arizona Cardinals. The Seahawks and 49ers were originally expected to play at 4:25 p.m. ET, but instead will start at 8:20 p.m. at Seattle's CenturyLink Field.

The Niners (12-3) assured themselves of no worse than a tie going into their season finale in Seattle by defeating the Los Angeles Rams 34-31 on Saturday.

Even after the Seahawks' loss to the Cardinals, they would still win a tiebreaker with San Francisco with a win in Week 17 because they also won the season's first meeting on a Jason Myers field goal in overtime.

In addition, both the Pittsburgh Steelers-Baltimore Ravens and Tennessee Titans-Houston Texans games have been moved from 1 p.m. ET to 4:25 p.m. ET, the league announced Sunday night. After the Steelers were defeated by New York Jets, the Titans only need to win in Week 17 to reach the playoffs.

The Oakland Raiders β€” who have an outside chance at reaching the postseason β€” also play the Denver Broncos at 4:25 p.m. ET. The Raiders need losses by the Steelers, Titans, Cincinnati Bengals and Jacksonville Jaguars in order to reach the AFC playoff field.
