Report: Trevor Lawrence set for left shoulder surgery on Tuesday

Former Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence, the presumed top pick in the upcoming NFL draft, has moved up the date he originally planned for surgery on his non-throwing shoulder.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported that Lawrence will undergo labrum surgery Tuesday on his left shoulder. This after Lawrence conducted his pro day workout on Friday, a month earlier than planned, at the request of new Jacksonville Jaguars coach Urban Meyer.

β€œIt was a good day, considering kind of short notice,” Lawrence said. β€œI was pretty pleased with it.

The earlier workout and surgery will give Lawrence more time to recover before training camp this summer. He originally planned to throw at Clemson's pro day on March 11 and get the surgery after that. The recovery is expected to take 5-6 months.

Quarterback Trevor Lawrence works out under the watchful eyes of Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Urban Meyer.

Rapoport said the procedure will be performed Tuesday by noted Los Angeles surgeon Dr. Neal ElAttrache.

By finishing with the NFL's worst record last season, the Jaguars have the first pick in the 2021 draft, which begins on April 29.

Lawrence led Clemson to the 2018 national title as a freshman and is widely expected to usher in a new era in Jacksonville with Meyer as coach.
