Bills safety Damar Hamlin appears on special episode of 'The Masked Singer'

Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin made a guest appearance on a recent episode of FOX’s "The Masked Singer" that aired on Wednesday.

Hamlin, who suffered cardiac arrest on Jan. 2, received a warm welcome from the studio audience. He joined the show on Sesame Street night to support his brother, Damir, who is a big Sesame Street fan. Damir chatted with Elmo during the telecast before Hamlin graced the stage.

According to ESPN, the episode was taped in late January. Hamlin told host Nick Cannon that he wanted to make this moment special for Damir.

"That's my world. I put family first, and, you know, he loves 'Sesame Street' more than most things, so we had to make it tonight," Hamlin said.

Hamlin continues make a remarkable recovery. Along the way, he has shared his inspirational story across multiple platforms. "The Masked Singer" host Ken Jeong was among many that were happy to see Hamlin doing well.

Jeong shared his excitement that Hamlin was in the building. He told Hamlin that everyone loves him and his story.

"I'm just so glad you're here," Jeong said. "But more importantly, I'm just so glad you're healthy. The whole world loves you."

Fans have continued to support Hamlin's Chasing Millions foundation. Since his injury, the foundation has seen donations exceed $8 million.

Hamlin is appreciative of the support and hopes to return to the gridiron and continue his football journey with the Bills.

Bills general manager Brandon Beane is hopeful to get Hamlin back on the field. He said the decision will be made between Hamlin, the team and the medical doctors.

"If he’s able to get full clearance and he feels he’s ready to do it, that’s another big smile of a story. Not that he just got his life back, but he would have his football career back and have an opportunity to go out there and play," Beane said at the NFL scouting combine.

"We’ll continue to support Damar throughout this whole thing. I would love to give the storybook ending that he’s definitely going to play, but we don’t know that yet. If he does, we’ll all be happy for him."

The Bills drafted Hamlin in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL draft. He is set to enter his third NFL season with the organization.
