Report: Tampa Bay Buccaneers sign 2018 first-round QB Josh Rosen to practice squad

Quarterback Josh Rosen will have a new home, but at least some familiar faces around him.

According to the NFL Network, Rosen, the No. 10 overall selection in the 2018 NFL draft, will join the practice squad of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Most recently a member of the Miami Dolphins, Rosen began his career with the Arizona Cardinals, where he started one season before the team traded him to Miami in April 2019 and selected quarterback Kyler Murray to be the Arizona's franchise passer. In his one season in Arizona, Rosen played behind one of the worst offensive lines in the league.

While with the Dolphins, Rosen played sparingly, but couldn't beat out Ryan Fitzpatrick for the team's permanent starting job.

The Dolphins released Rosen, 23, Saturday and he went unclaimed on waivers.

Josh Rosen was the 10th overall pick in the 2018 draft.

Now with Tampa Bay, Rosen will reunite with offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich, with whom Rosen worked in the second half of the 2018 season in Arizona.

Rosen, counting his stint this offseason with Miami under new offensive coordinator Chan Gailey and dating back to his years at UCLA, had played for seven different offensive coordinators since the start of the 2015 football season.

He enters a low-pressure situation with all-time great Tom Brady entering the season as the team's unquestioned starter, but no other long-term plan at the position. Rosen is free to sign with another team, if offered a job on a 53-man roster. The Buccaneers currently have Blaine Gabbert and Ryan Griffin as the backups behind Brady.

Rosen has completed 54.78% of his passes for 2,845 yards, 12 touchdowns and 19 interceptions.
