Arizona Cardinals coach Kliff Kingsbury 'pissed' after embarrassing loss to Detroit Lions

The Arizona Cardinals are no longer the No. 1 seed in the NFC, and they can thank a dismal showing Sunday against the league-worst Detroit Lions, who won their second game of the season (and second in three games).

Detroit took it to Arizona early, gaining a 17-0 halftime lead before finishing the Cardinals off 30-12, their second consecutive loss. The Cardinals are now the fourth seed, meaning they're still slated for a home playoff game, with remaining games against the Colts, Cowboys and Seahawks.

And to use his own words, coach Kliff Kingsbury is "pissed."

"Obviously pissed to come out, play like that," Kingsbury said, according to Pro Football Talk. "That's not who we want to be or what we want to be. But I've got to tip my hat to Detroit. I thought they had a tremendous plan. They outcoached us and outplayed us. We got to be better."

The Cardinals did not find the end zone until quarterback Kyler Murray threw a touchdown pass to Christian Kirk with 4:40 left in the game and the Cardinals trailing by three scores.

Running back Craig Reynolds, signed from the Lions' practice squad this month because of injuries and players on the COVID-19 list, led the league in rushing yards in Week 15 with 112. Detroit quarterback Jared Goff went 21-for-26 with 216 passing yards and three touchdowns.
