2024 Cardinals roster preview: WR Zach Pascal
The Arizona Cardinals will open training camp July 23 and begin the process of preparing for the regular season, forming the roster and determining starting jobs and roles on the team.
Leading up to the start of camp, we will take a look at every player on the offseason roster, their background, their contract, their play in 2023, questions they face and their roster outlook.
Next up is receiver Zach Pascal.
Background
Pascal enters his eighth NFL season and second with the Cardinals. He is in the second year of the two-year deal he signed as a free agent in 2023.
NFL STATS CENTRAL: The latest NFL scores, schedules, odds, stats and more.
He entered the league as a rookie free agent in 2017 with the Washington Redskins and spent most of the season on the practice squad of the Tennesse Titans.
After being released in 2018, he was signed by the Indianapolis Colts, where he played four seasons before playing one season for the Philadelphia Eagles in 2022. He has now been with Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon with three teams (Indy when he was a DBs coach, Philly when he was defensive coordinator and now with the Cardinals).
In his career, he has played in 95 games, starting 47 of them, and has 169 career receptions for 2,057 yards and 16 touchdowns.
He had over 600 receiving yards in both 2019 and 2020.
2023 stats
Pascal played 14 games last season for the Cardinals, logging 202 offensive snaps and 202 special teams snaps. He had four catches for 19 yards and was third on the team with eight special teams tackles.
Questions he faces
Pascal will turn 30 in December. Can he stave off younger players the Cardinals have added? After doing almost nothing on offense despite more than 200 snaps, will he show he can do more than play special teams?
2024 roster outlook
Pascal appears to be on the roster bubble. The Cardinals signed Chris Moore in free agency, who can play special teams, can do more on offense and has been committed $750,000 in guarantees this year. They also drafted Tejhaun Palmer and signed undrafted rookie Xavier Weaver. He has a battle to make the roster.
