INDIANAPOLIS — The greatest player in the history of the Colts is still an invaluable resource for the franchise.

Peyton Manning is Matt Ryan’s mentor, a tutor for Quenton Nelson, a regular sounding board for Frank Reich and a consultant for Indianapolis owner Jim Irsay.

Manning is part of the reason that Ryan is here in Indianapolis. When Ryan called his longtime friend after the Falcons informed him they were involved in the pursuit of Deshaun Watson, Manning offered, unsolicited, a few thoughts on Reich and general manager Chris Ballard, the culture the two men had built in Indianapolis.
