Andy Reid announces Michael Vick to remain Eagles' starting quarterback

Michael Vick is keeping his job, for at least another week anyway.

Philadelphia Eagles coach Andy Reid announced Wednesday morning that he won't bring rookie Nick Foles out of the bullpen for Monday night's game at the New Orleans Saints.

Vick's 13 turnovers are among the key issues plaguing the 3-4 Eagles, however he took care of the ball in Sunday's 30-17 loss to the Atlanta Falcons. He said afterward that he supported whatever Reid chose to do and seemed to be bracing for a seat on the bench.

Foles, a third-round pick out of Arizona in April's draft, posted some gaudy numbers in Philadelphia's 4-0 preseason, compiling a 110.1 passer rating and completing nearly 64% of his passes while throwing six TD passes against two interceptions.

Still, sticking with Vick seems to be the logical move for Reid, who's clearly under intense pressure to win now in order to save his job. Asking a rookie who hasn't taken a regular-season snap to save the season is a long shot. And if there was ever a week the talented Eagles offense might have a breakout performance, it could be against a Saints defense on pace for a historically bad season.

Vick sports a 5-2 record vs. the Saints but hasn't beaten them since 2005, the year before Sean Payton and Drew Brees arrived in New Orleans.
