Jacksonville Jaguars refute report that coach Doug Marrone will be dismissed after Sunday's game

ESPN reported on Saturday that Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Doug Marrone would not return next season, and that Sunday's game against the Indianapolis Colts would be his last with the team.

However, a spokesman for Jaguars owner Shad Khan told NFL Network on Saturday that the ESPN report is "100 percent incorrect" and that Khan will meet with all football personnel sometime next week.

Khan fired Tom Coughlin, who served as the team's executive vice president of football operations, last week β€” making Marrone's future in Jacksonville much murkier.

Marrone was named the fifth head coach in team history in January 2017. In his first year at the helm, the Jaguars advanced to the AFC Championship Game, but the team regressed in the last two seasons. The Jaguars are 21-28 under him through three-plus seasons.

Marrone served as the assistant head coach for two seasons with the Jaguars before being named as the interim to finish the 2016 campaign. Before that, he coached the Buffalo Bills for two seasons as a first-time NFL head coach; he led Syracuse, his alma mater, from 2009-2012.
