Is Tim Tebow frustrated? Rex Ryan says it 'wouldn't be shocking'

Nate Davis, USA TODAY Sports
Jets coach Rex Ryan and QB Mark Sanchez have been linked at the hip since both arrived in New York in 2009.
  • Jets coach not making switch despite losing four of five
  • Ryan hints Tebow may be growing frustrated with limited role
  • With Sandy approaching, Jets players given entire bye week off

Rex Ryan had a night to sleep on it.

But the New York Jets coach had not changed his mind Monday morning: Mark Sanchez remains the team's starting quarterback.

"I think Mark's our guy, I don't think there's any doubt about that," Ryan said on a conference call with reporters. "I think Mark gives us the best chance to win."

Of course, the Jets didn't win Sunday, falling to 3-5 after a crash-and-burn 30-9 loss to the Miami Dolphins. Sanchez was 28-for-54 (the second-most attempts of his career) for 283 yards, one TD and one interception.

However the Jets' biggest problems were special teams breakdowns and the inability to get their running game into high gear, deficiencies Ryan was quick to note.

"We had a big step back yesterday," he said.

The Jets have now lost four of five, though they'd been competitive recently against heavyweight teams like the Houston Texans and New England Patriots.

But apparently Ryan doesn't think replacing Sanchez with Tim Tebow under center will alleviate the club's nosedive. The coach said he and his assistants may again ponder expanding Tebow's role, even seeming to hint the ballyhooed backup may be growing frustrated.

"It wouldn't be shocking if that's how he felt," Ryan said while qualifying that only Tebow could speak to his own mindset.

With Hurricane Sandy already battering New Jersey, Ryan gave his players their entire bye week off and won't reconvene the team until next Monday. However the Jets coaching staff will be spending plenty of time trying to fix a season gone wrong ... even if dialing up Tebow Time isn't an option.
