Drew Brees says one incompletion during his 29-for-30 night will 'haunt me for a little while'

What does a near-perfect night mean for a perfectionist? In New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees' case, it means that one errant pass will be on his mind just as much as the 29 completed ones.

Brees set the new NFL record for highest completion percentage while throwing 29-for-30 passes β€” a 96.7% completion rate β€” during the Saints' 34-7 victory over the Colts

He also eclipsed the NFL's career touchdown passes record (previously held by Peyton Manning) by throwing his 540th overall TD strike in his 307-yard, four-touchdown night. (He also added to his total with his 541st touchdown pass.)

But Brees was frustrated he missed the 30-for-30 mark.

"I’ll be honest with you β€” you always think about the one that you missed," Brees said on ESPN. "If I just set my darn feet and throw it to the running back, it’s 30-for-30, so that one may haunt me for a little while."

Brees has competition for the touchdown record. New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has 538 career passing TDs.

The Saints are 11-3 heading into Week 16.
