OLYMPIA, Wash. – Seattle Seahawks receiver Doug Baldwin took his demand for review and reform of police policies to the state capitol Monday.

Baldwin, whose father is a retired police officer, was among 13 people to make public comments during a meeting of the Joint Legislative Task Force on Use of Deadly Force in Community Policing.

He closed his statement by “asking with hope” the committee to make three recommendations, including changes to a state statute regarding when police officers can be criminally charged for using deadly force and allocating funds specifically designated to training officers “so that the state of Washington can continue to be seen as a leader in that regard.”

Baldwin first raised the issue in a media conference in late September. The Seahawks have formed a “Building Bridges” task force to meet with local law enforcement officials and politicians.
