'Beast Mode' is back in Seattle: Injury-depleted Seahawks sign Marshawn Lynch

The Seattle Seahawks have turned to a familiar face to provide reinforcement for their injury-depleted backfield.

Marshawn Lynch, who hasn't played in the NFL since Week 6 of last season, has signed with the Seahawks. Lynch's agent Doug Hendrickson confirmed the deal on Twitter

The team also signed running back Robert Turbin, who was a fourth-round selection by the team in the 2012 draft. Like Lynch, Turbin hasn't played in the NFL this season.

The Seahawks' backfield was decimated in Sunday's stunning 27-13 loss to the Arizona Cardinals. Chris Carson suffered a hip injury and C.J. Prosise broke his arm. The team already was without Rashaad Penny, who suffered a season-ending knee injury in the Seahawks' loss to the Los Angeles Rams in Week 14.

Marshawn Lynch rushed for 6,347 yards and 57 TDS in 82 regular-season games played for the Seahawks.

The 33-year-old Lynch played for the Seahawks from 2010-15, and was a key contributor on the Seahawks squad that defeated the Denver Broncos in a rout in Super Bowl XLVIII. Lynch's "Beast Quake" touchdown run in a 2010 wild-card game against the New Orleans Saints is the signature play of his career.

The Seahawks β€” who are 11-4 and host the 12-3 San Francisco 49ers on "Sunday Night Football" with the NFC West title on the line β€” also will be without left tackle Duane Brown, who will undergo minor knee surgery. Seahawks coach Pete Carroll says Brown has a chance to return during the playoffs.
