BALTIMORE – Ben Roethlisberger’s fast track to game action is official. The Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback is active and will start in Sunday’s game against the Baltimore Ravens – less than three weeks since undergoing arthroscopic surgery in his left knee for a torn meniscus.

That Roethlisberger, with a reputation as a quick healer, was cleared wasn’t a major surprise as he took the first-team reps during practice last week. Now there’s the question of how effective he’ll be. In seven previous games in which he returned after missing time with injuries, the Steelers are 2-5.

Meanwhile, the Ravens get a key weapon back, too. Wide receiver Steve Smith, Sr., is activated after missing two games with an ankle injury.
