Tom Brady jerseys sell out at Super Bowl hours before game kicks off

ATLANTA — Tom Brady best keep a close eye on his jersey after Sunday night's Super Bowl LIII matchup.

Fans won’t be able to find the souvenir at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Boston TV station WBZ reported, after stadium stores sold out by 3:30 p.m. – three hours before the game kicked off. In WBZ’s video, what appears to be a stadium store employee says all Patriots jerseys sold in an hour and a half Sunday afternoon.

Jerseys cost $159 each, the man said.

The Patriots went scoreless through the first quarter, continuing Tom Brady and Bill Belichick’s trend of zero touchdowns in Super Bowl first quarters. The Patriots are 4-0 in Super Bowls when the score was tied after the first quarter (all at zero). New England led 3-0 at halftime in a defense-heavy first half.

Brady, 41, sold more jerseys than any player in the NFL this season. Two years ago a Mexico City newspaper director swiped the Patriots quarterback’s jersey in the aftermath of New England’s comeback win over the Falcons. Brady said last year he’d cling tightly to his jersey if the Patriots won but discard a losing garment. But in the aftermath of Philadelphia’s 41-33 win, he stashed the jersey with his other belongings.
