Kansas City (Missouri) Police Department wins Twitter after Chiefs win Super Bowl

The Kansas City Chiefs won Super Bowl LIV. Their local police department is winning the night.

The Chiefs battled back from a 10-point deficit to score three unanswered touchdowns in the fourth quarter and beat the San Francisco 49ers, 31-20, Sunday night.

In the minutes that followed, as fans in Kansas City began to celebrate, the Kansas City (Missouri) Police Department took to Twitter to remind everyone to celebrate responsibly.

The first in a string of tweets read: “It's a Super Bowl victory, not the purge.”

When one person responded with a question asking if there were any incidents, the verified Twitter account replied: “Someone thought there was a free pass on streaking this evening ...”

The Kansas City Police also poked fun at many who joked about being in Kansas. Earlier in the night, President Donald Trump posted a congratulatory message to his verified Twitter account, lauding the Chiefs for the way they “represented the Great State of Kansas.” Trump later deleted that tweet and posted a corrected one.

The Super Bowl is Kansas City’s first in 50 years and is coach Andy Reid’s first career title as a head coach. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes won the game’s Most Valuable Player award after completing 26-of-42 passes for 282 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions.
