Thomas, 31, joined the Texans in a midseason trade from the Denver Broncos. He recorded 23 catches for 275 yards and two touchdowns before tearing his Achilles in Week 16.
Thomas was due $14 million in 2019, none of which was guaranteed. With Will Fuller returning from a torn ACL to join Pro Bowl receiver DeAndre Hopkins and slot target Keke Coutee, Houston could be set at the top of its depth chart for receivers.
A four-time Pro Bowl selection with the Broncos, Thomas ranks sixth among active players in career receptions (688).
