  • He's the fourth locked-out player to be injured overseas
  • Avangard Omsk says it signs Nashville's Sergei Kostitsyn

Philadelphia Flyers forward Jakub Voracek suffered a knee injury in the Kontinental Hockey League that will keep him out for about four weeks.

Voracek, who signed with Lev Praha in Prague for the duration of the lockout in mid-September, apparently injured his knee in the third period of Saturday's game against SKA St. Petersburg. The team announced the injury and prognosis.

Before the lockout, he had signed a four-year, $17 million deal this summer after a career-high 18-goal campaign. In seven games with Lev Praha, Voracek has one goal and seven assists.

He's the fourth locked-out NHL player to be injured while playing overseas.

New York Rangers forward Rick Nash has not played since injuring his shoulder in his third game with Davos in the Swiss league.

Calgary Flames forward Jiri Hudler suffered an abdominal/groin muscle injury and was released by Lev Praha.

St. Louis Blues defenseman Kris Russell, playing in Finland, injured his knee and returned home.

KHL team says it signs Kostitsyn

Nashville Predators forward Sergei Kostitsyn has signed with Avangard Omsk of the Kontinental Hockey League for the duration of the lockout, the team announced on its website. Kostitsyn was Nashville's co-leading scorer in 2010-11.

During the offseason, he signed a two-year $6 million deal with Nashville.

That puts the count of Predators players overseas to five. Other players signed in Europe include goaltender Pekka Rinne, forwards Patric Hornqvist and Craig Smith and defenseman Roman Josi.
