The Kontinental Hockey League's Dinamo Minsk repored on its website that Winnipeg Jets forward Evander Kane had left the Belarus-based team after producing one goal in 12 games.

In announcing Kane's departure, the website quoted team executive Igor Matuskin as saying Kane "could not adapt" to the KHL.

Kane, 21, scored 30 goals for the Jets last season but could not find his game in the KHL. Early in his tenure with the Dinamo, coach Alexander Andrievsky accused Kane of not being in shape. Kane also was suspended for one game by the KHL for delivering a head shot while checking Avangard Omsk defenseman Nikita Pivtaski. Kane posted 47 penalty minutes in his 12 games in Minsk.

Before the NHL lockout began, Kane signed a six-year, $31.5 million contract with the Jets.

Though Kane struggled, former Winnipeg teammate Tim Stapleton, a journeyman player, has been an offensive force in the KHL with 19 points in 25 games. According to the Dinamo's website, Stapleton. 30, was voted the team's player of the month of October by fans. Nashville Predators goalie Pekka Rinne and San Jose Sharks forward Joe Pavelski also are on the Dinamo roster.
