NHL playoffs best bets: Odds, lines, spreads for Stars-Predators, Hurricanes-Capitals on Monday

SportsBookWire

In today’s SportsbookWire Best Bets series, we focus on Monday’s NHL playoff action, where there is a two-game slate. Full breakdowns on each matchup can be found at SportsbookWire.USATODAY.com.

Nashville Predators at Dallas Stars

Moneyline: The Stars are comfortable -130 favorites on home ice as they look to advance to Round 2. They’ve been able to get this far with the much better goaltender in the series and can be trusted once again.

Against the spread: Each of the past two Dallas victories has been by at least two goals. Roll with -1.5 again in Game 6 at +230.

Over/under: There’s better value in the OVER on a total of 5 (+105). It’s a good play while backing the Stars.

Capitals players celebrate a goal against Carolina in Game 5.

Washington Capitals at Carolina Hurricanes

Moneyline: The Capitals are +100 underdogs on the road as they try to advance to Round 2. Washington’s Braden Holtby has been the far better goalie through five games and bettors should bank on his experience at a friendly number.

Against the spread: Washington is just -280 to cover a spread of +1.5. Go with the moneyline, instead.

Over/under: The UNDER on 5.5 (-115) is the play with neither team expected to be at full health up front.
