LeBron James' son Bronny sidelined by torn meniscus in his knee

The basketball team at powerhouse Southern California high school Sierra Canyon is without one of its best players, possibly for the entire season, after sophomore Bronny James suffered a torn meniscus.

The son of L.A. Lakers star LeBron James revealed the injury recently on the streaming platform Twitch. The Los Angeles Daily News and ESPN reported Thursday that Bronny James had surgery to repair the damage and is expected to make a complete recovery.

California high schools have yet to begin their basketball seasons due to COVID-19 restrictions on indoor sporting events.

James, a 6-foot-2 guard, averaged 4.1 points in 15 games last season as a freshman for Sierra Canyon. He is listed as a five-star recruit and ranked 25th overall in the Class of 2023 by 247sports.com.
