MANCHESTER, England (AP) β€” West Ham midfielder Ravel Morrison has been cleared of charges that alleged he threatened to throw acid in the face of his former girlfriend and have her killed.

State prosecutors withdrew the allegation on Monday and a not-guilty verdict was recorded at a hearing at a court in Manchester.

The former Manchester United player, who has played four times for the England under-21 side and is currently on loan at Cardiff, had been accused of harassing his ex-girlfriend over a four-year period.

Morrison will go on trial on Jan. 26 on three remaining charges of assaulting his ex-girlfriend and her mother in July. He has pleaded not guilty to two counts of assault by beating and one of assault causing actual bodily harm.
