Racing beats River to claim Argentine lead
BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (AP) β Racing Club beat River Plate 1-0 to replace it atop of the Argentine first-division standings on Sunday.
Racing's win came courtesy of an own goal from River defender Ramiro Funes Mori in the 16th minute
Racing have now won their last four league matches to top the league with 35 points from 17 games, two ahead of River and Lanus in second.
Jonathan Calleri scored twice as Boca Juniors defeated Independiente 3-1 to remain in contention. Boca and Independiente are in Joint third place with 30 points.
Emmanuel Gigliotti notched the other goal for Boca. Matias Pisano scored Independiente's lone goal.
Calleri scored in the 4th and 70th minutes. His first goal capitalized on a goalkeeping error by Diego Rodriguez. Calleri ran past Rodriguez as he was slow with the ball at his feet, tipped the ball away and pushed it over the line.
Also Sunday, Tigre won 2-1 at Belgrano, and Estudiantes drew 0-0 with Defensa y Justicia.
