ROTTERDAM, Netherlands (AP) — Feyenoord beat FC Utrecht 2-1 on Sunday to win the KNVB Cup, the Rotterdam club's first trophy since 2008.

Feyenoord, which beat five top-flight opponents - including archrival Ajax - on the way to the final, won the Dutch domestic cup for the 12th time in front of ecstatic fans at the team's own stadium, De Kuip.

"Winning a cup with Feyenoord was my biggest dream," Kuyt told Dutch broadcaster SBS6. "This could be my greatest prize ever."

The veteran former Netherlands international won the cup with Utrecht in 2003 - scoring one of the goals in a 4-1 victory over Feyenoord.

Michiel Kramer struck for Feyenoord three minutes before halftime, jumping above the Utrecht defense to meet a Dirk Kuyt cross and guide a header just inside the post. Ramon Leeuwin leveled the scores six minutes after the break.

Eljero Elia created the winner in the 75th minute when he cut in from the left and beat Utrecht goalkeeper Filip Bednarek at his near post. The ball rebounded off the frame and deflected into the goal off Bednarek's back, meaning the unfortunate keeper was credited with an own goal.

"This is for the fans," Elia said. "They haven't had a prize for eight years."
