Urawa draws with Yokohama to secure place in J-League final

SAITAMA, Japan (AP) β€” The Urawa Reds secured a place in the J-League championship final on Thursday after a 1-1 draw with Yokohama F Marinos on the final day of the regular season.

The Reds clinched the top spot in the overall standings, finishing with 74 points β€” two ahead of Kawasaki Frontale β€” to advance to the two-leg final on Nov. 29 and Dec. 3.

Kawasaki lost 3-2 to Gamba Osaka and will face first-stage winners Kashima Antlers in a semifinal playoff on Nov. 23.

Yosuke Kashiwagi put Urawa ahead in the 66th minute, but substitute Martinus equalized for the visitors with five minutes left in regulation.

In other matches, Jubilo Iwata beat Vegalta Sendai 1-0, defending champions Sanfrecce Hiroshima edged Albirex Niigata 1-0 and Kashiwa Reysol thrashed Avispa Fukuoka 4-0.
