Two Scotland-based forwards set to play for Australia

BRISBANE, Australia (AP) β€” Australia coach Graham Arnold seems set to deploy a new-look attack in a friendly against South Korea, with Jamie Maclaren and Martin Boyle bound for Brisbane as part of a 23-man squad.

The pair, both based at Scottish club Hibernian, were in the squad announced Thursday for the Nov. 17 game against South Korea. Australia beat South Korea 2-1 the last time the countries met Down Under. Australia will also play Lebanon in Sydney on Nov. 20.

Maclaren has recovered from a back injury. Boyle, a youth international for Scotland, could play his first match for the Socceroos, having been lured to Australia by Arnold.

Japan-based forward Andrew Nabbout will also return to the squad after sustaining a shoulder dislocation at the World Cup.

Australia's last match was a 4-0 win over Kuwait in October.

Tim Cahill, who plans to retire, is scheduled to earn his 108th and final cap as a substitute in the Lebanon match.

The two friendlies are likely to be Australia's last matches before defending its title at the Asian Cup, which begins Jan. 5 in the United Arab Emirates.
