Group play is in the books for the 2024 Copa America and now eight teams remain in the knockout stage. The quarterfinals start off with the top-ranked team in the tournament - Argentina - taking on Ecuador in Houston.

Argentina racked up three shutout wins to win Group A. La Albiceleste started things off with a 2-0 win over Canada in the tournament opener before beating Chile 1-0 with a late goal by leading tournament scorer Lautaro MartiĢnez. A 2-0 win over Peru in Miami put a stamp on their group stage win with both goals by MartiĢnez.

Ecuador opened the tournament with a 2-1 loss to Venezuela but battled back with a 3-1 win over Jamaica. A 0-0 draw with Mexico sealed a spot in the knockout stage for La Tri. All four goals in the tournament have come from different players. This is the third time Ecuador's made the knockout stage in the last four Copa America tournaments but the squad hasn't made it past the quarterfinals since 1993.

These two teams met in the quarterfinals of the 2021 Copa America with Argentina earning a 3-0 win en route to the tournament win.
