Los Angeles Dodgers at Colorado Rockies - MLB Best Bet of the Day

Joe Williams
Sportsbook Wire

The Los Angeles Dodgers look to complete the sweep at Coors Field against the Colorado Rockies. The Dodgers improved to 7-2 with a 7-2 victory behind Walker Buehler, shutting down Jon Gray, who has been money at Coors Field in the past. The only thing that was odd about Saturday's result was the 'under' came through, just the second one in nine games for Los Angeles this season.

Los Angeles Dodgers at Colorado Rockies: Projected Starting Pitchers

LHP Julio Urias vs. RHP Chad Bettis

The southpaw Urias will be making his second start of the season. He allowed just three hits with no walks and seven strikeouts over five scoreless frames in a 77-pitch no-decision against the rival San Francisco Giants on April 1. He recorded an impressive 4.0 groundball-to-flyball ratio, and that will serve him well in the rarefied air at Coors Field if he can replicate those results.

Bettis turned in some uneven results in his first outing on April Fool's Day, coughing up six earned runs, seven hits and two walks with five strikeouts across 5 2/3 innings in a 91-pitch loss.

Los Angeles Dodgers at Colorado Rockies: By the Numbers

  • Urias enters Sunday's start with a .348 opponent batting average across two starts and one relief appearances in his career against the Rockies. On a positive note, he has 11 strikeouts across 11 innings vs. Colorado.
  • Bettis, who is likely a happy Texas Tech alum due to his school's success on the hardwood, carries a 2-2 record, 4.96 ERA and .243 opponent batting average in eight starts and two relief appearances against L.A. since the start of the 2016 season.
  • Max Muncy has faced Bettis for a total of just seven at-bats, but he has connected for two homers and four RBI.
  • The Dodgers have won four of their past five trips to Coors Field, and seven consecutive meetings in this series.

Los Angeles Dodgers at Colorado Rockies: Picks and Betting Tips

Moneyline: The Dodgers are laying a healthy number (- 150) at Coors Field, and anything can happen at a mile high. That makes them a risky play. However, L.A. has been rolling, and they have won seven in a row in this series. The Rockies might be worth a roll of the dice as short 'dogs at home (+ 130) despite the fact L.A. has dominated this series recently.

Against the spread: The Dodgers ( -1.5, -104) should be avoided on the run line, as Urias doesn't go deep into games, so the bullpen should get a lot of work. With Joe Kelly banged up, the Rockies might be able to get to the 'pen. The Rockies ( +1.5, -112) might be the play if you enjoy run lines.

Over/under: The over has cashed in seven of L.A.'s nine games overall. The over is also 7-1-1 in the past nine home starts by Bettis, and 7-3-1 in his past 11 against the Dodgers. Take the Over 11 at (-106).
