St. Louis Blues at Winnipeg Jets: By the Numbers

James Guillory-USA TODAY Sports

  • The Jets won the first three games of the season series before the Blues picked up their first win on Dec. 7. Two of the Jets' first three wins came with former Blues head coach Mike Yeo behind the bench.
  • The Blues went 28-8-5 over the final 41 games of the regular season, picking up one fewer point than the league-winning Tampa Bay Lightning over that time.
  • Winnipeg scored 25 more goals than St. Louis but allowed 21 additional tallies.
  • St. Louis' 8-1-1 record over their final 10 games of the regular season is the best closing 10-game stretch of any playoff team.

St. Louis Blues at Winnipeg Jets: Projected Goalie Starters

Jordan Binnington vs. Conner Hellebuyck

Binnington, a 25-year-old rookie and third-round pick of the Blues from the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, led the league with a 1.89 goals against average over 32 games played. He went 24-5-1 and posted a save percentage of .927. He won eight of his past nine starts in the regular season.

Hellebuyck led the league in goals allowed, shots against and saves over his 63 games. He posted a .913 save percentage and 2.90 goals against average while going 34-23-3, but March was his best month of the season with a .926 SV%.

St. Louis Blues at Winnipeg Jets: Key Injuries

The Blues enter the postseason at full health, while Jets LW Brandon Tanev won't play in Game 1 due to an upper-body injury.

St. Louis Blues at Winnipeg Jets: NHL Best Bet

Moneyline: The Jets are the slightest of favorites at home with -115 odds. The atmosphere at MTS Center has helped them in the past and should allow them to temporarily slow the Blues.

Against the spread: This whole series is likely to be played tightly. The Blues are a whopping -300 to cover +1.5, but there's no value in that. Take the Jets on the other side at +250 instead of the moneyline.

Over/under: We'll lean slightly toward the OVER on 5.5 at -110 odds with the expectation of some early postseason jitters from Binnington.
