San Antonio Spurs at Denver Nuggets: By the Numbers

  • The surprising Nuggets return to the postseason for the first time since 2012-13. They haven't played the Spurs in the playoffs since losing in the first round in 2006-07.

  • The season series was split at two games apiece with all but the final meeting being decided by eight or fewer points.
  • The Nuggets won an NBA-best 34 home games this season and covered the spread in 25 of 41 outings on home court. San Antonio went 19-20-2 ATS as the visitor.

  • Both teams ranked in the bottom 13 of the regular season in points per game, however; both ranked in the top 10 in offensive efficiency. They were two of just eight teams to average 104.4 or fewer possessions per game.

San Antonio Spurs at Denver Nuggets: Key Injuries

Both teams are without a depth player for the entirety of the postseason, as the Spurs won't have PG Dejounte Murray following his October knee surgery. Denver's missing SF Michael Porter Jr. following back surgery.

San Antonio Spurs at Denver Nuggets: Best Bet

Moneyline: The Nuggets are fairly small favorites (by NBA Playoffs standards) at -240 for the first game of the quarterfinals matchup. Trust them at home before the Spurs likely make it more of a series once it moves to San Antonio.

Against the spread: The much better number for Denver comes at -110 to cover a -5.5 spread. Denver thumped San Antonio by 28 points on April 3.

Over/under: The 211 total for Game 1 was surpassed in just one of the four head-to-head meetings this year. Expect both teams to want to keep it slow in the early going of the series as they figure each other out.
