NFL Draft - Who are the best betting options to be the No. 1 pick?

With less than a week remaining prior to the NFL Draft, placing bets on who will be the first-overall pick has become like betting on Mike Tyson fights when he was viewed as invincible - bet a lot to win a little.

Several wagering websites have been setting odds for first round NFL Draft prop bets and the one that is becoming the biggest lock would appear to be Oklahoma QB Kyler Murray being the No. 1 pick. The current odds have Murray at -1000 (meaning to win $100, you need to bet $1,000), odds most gamblers don't like taking, but in this case, we might see the exception to the rule.

If you like to eat chalk, Murray is your best bet.

Other options for No. 1 overall NFL Draft Pick

The other players listed as potential No. 1 picks are Nick Bosa (+500), Josh Allen (+2000), Quinnen Williams (+2000), Dwayne Haskins (+2500), Drew Lock (+5000), Rashan Gary (+10000), Jawan Taylor (+10000) and Devin White (+10000).

Murray's projection at No. 1 is seemingly becoming more of a self-fulfilling prophecy all the time. As part of its 2019 NFL schedule release Wednesday, the Arizona Cardinals, who currently own the first pick, created a video of the team highlighting several players as part of the rollout of their 2019 opponents. Conspicuously absent from most of that montage of players was current QB Josh Rosen (he was only briefly shown in a picture of the field of play), who Arizona traded up in last year's draft to acquire. Coincidence?

Probably not.

While the Cardinals aren't immune from trading out of the No. 1 spot, the draft ransom that typically accompanies such a trade - at least two No. 1 picks (one of those likely required to be a top-10 selection) and other draft equity - is going to be a steep price to pay. The only players in recent years that have commanded that type of compensation on Draft Day over the last decade-plus have been quarterbacks.

As much as bettors don't like risking 10 times as much money as they would make by winning, this one seems like a no-brainer as the clock ticks down to the first pick.

WHO WILL BE TAKEN NO. 1 OVERALL IN NFL DRAFT?

Kyler Murray.

As long as you don't have to lock in that the pick will be made by Arizona, it seems like the only logical choice. The Cardinals have set the stage by their own actions toward Rosen and, if they are willing to deal the No. 1 pick for a harvest of draft picks over the next couple of years, the team making the deal would only be moving up to take the best quarterback in the NFL Draft and, in 2019, that's Murray.
