Pittsburgh Steelers Super Bowl odds: Will Black and Gold earn first-round bye?

Geoff Clark
USA Today Sportsbookwire

The Pittsburgh Steelers (7-0) are the NFL's last remaining undefeated team and just beat the 2019 AFC North champion Baltimore Ravens as 4-point road underdogs in Week 8. After winning its first three games against losing teams, Pittsburgh has rattled off four straight victories against teams that would be in the playoffs if they started today.

Below, we analyze the midseason 2020 Pittsburgh Steelers Super Bowl odds, their odds of winning the AFC North as well as NFL futures and opine on whether they're worth a Super Bowl futures bet at this time.

The Steelers (+600) have the second-best odds to win the Super Bowl so I am not chomping at the bit to bet them at this point. There were questions surrounding how QB Ben Roethlisberger would return after missing most of 2019 with an elbow injury and if the Pittsburgh defense could replicate its 2019 form. The Steelers were +2500 to win the Super Bowl at the beginning of training camp and their odds have plummetted because Pittsburgh appears to have answered those questions.

NFL STATS CENTRAL: The latest NFL scores, schedules, odds, stats and more.

Like most good Steelers teams, the conversation starts with the defense. Pittsburgh is first in sacks and pressure rate, second in takeaways and defensive DVOA ( according toFootball Outsiders ). The Steelers have game-changers on all levels of the defense.

Roethlisberger is the frontrunner for NFL Comeback Player of the Year. Big Ben isn't having his best season but head coach Mike Tomlin is coaching up the talent around him. Rookie WR Chase Claypool looks to be another draft steal for Pittsburgh and has been a big-play threat to complements WRs JuJu Smith-Schuster and Diontae Johnson nicely.

Steelersdivision betting odds

  • Pittsburgh Steelers -358
  • Baltimore Ravens +260
  • Cleveland Browns +2500
  • Cincinnati Bengals +100000

Taking the Steelers at -358 is not a bet I am willing to make but if you have a big enough bankroll there is an argument to be made for the wager. In Sportsbook Wire's Bet Slippin' Podcastepisode previewing the AFC North, I gave out the Ravens and Steelers to finish first and second (in either order) in the division standings at -130.

Steelersfutures picks and predictions

Pittsburgh has checked all the boxes thus far but I am not sold on the Steelers at +500 to win the Super Bowl. Not at that price at least. Their remaining schedule is pretty soft-29th-toughest in the NFL according toFootball Outsiders -so a first-round bye and home-field advantage throughout the playoffs is in play.

I'll say that betting both the Steelers +600 and the Kansas City Chiefs +350 to win the Super Bowl could provide a positive return on investment.
