Varlamov got a rest against the New Jersey Devils with Ilya Sorokin leading the way, so the veteran is fresh for this showdown with the Capitals. Varlamov has won four straight games in March, and he hasn't lost in regulation in seven appearances dating back to Feb. 20.
Samsonov looked on as Vitek Vanecek blanked the Buffalo Sabres Monday, so like Varlamov, he enters this game rested. He will be making his first appearance against the Islanders this season.
