The Golden State Warriors (39-33) take on the Los Angeles Lakers (42-30) Wednesday night in the NBA play-in tournament to determine who will be the No. 7 seed in the Western Conference. Tip-off is at 10 p.m. ET at Staples Center. Below, we analyze the Warriors-Lakers odds and lines, with NBA picks and predictions.

The winner will face the second-seeded Phoenix Suns in the first round of the playoffs. The loser will play one more game to try to earn the No. 8 seed

Golden State finished the regular season with six wins in a row and victory in eight of its final nine contests. The Warriors lost two of three games to the Lakers in the regular season, splitting their two games in L.A. They were only 14-22 on the road this season.

The Lakers won their final five games of the regular season. Only the Warriors ended the season on a longer win streak. They were 21-15 at home and have a tough path to try and defend their title.

Warriors at Lakers: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Lakers 115, Warriors 111

Money line (ML)

Both teams ended the season on winning streaks but when you look at this game, you look at the stars on both sides. It appears the Lakers will have both James and Davis, the tandem that led them to the title last year. The Warriors just have PG Stephen Curry.

While he has been fantastic, the Warriors have been bad on the road. All six games of their winning streak to end the regular season were at home.

Yes, it is a chalk pick, but take the LAKERS (-250).

Against the spread (ATS)

Not only was Golden State 14-22 straight up on the road, it was also 14-22 ATS. The Lakers were also 14-22 ATS at home, so there is no strong trend one way or another.

The Warriors covered the spread in each of their final six games and in eight of their last nine, but they were all in outright wins and six were at home. The Lakers went 3-3 ATS in their final six games.

I expect a hotly contested game between two teams led by players with extensive playoff experience and championship resumes.

Take the WARRIORS +5.5 (-110).

Over/Under (O/U)

The Lakers and the Warriors had the two lowest Over percentages in the league in the regular season; however, four of the final five games for Golden State went Over the total and three of the final five for the Lakers went Over.

The projected total is relatively low and the Warriors scored at least 113 points in nine of their last 10 games.

Take OVER 217.5 POINTS (-115).
