Dubois vs. Dinu: Tale of the tape

Daniel Dubois (-2500)

Dubois (15-1, 14 KOs) is looking to bounce back after falling to Joe Joyce last time out at Church House in Westminster Nov. 28. He was knocked out in the 10th round for the first-career loss for "Dynamite" Dubois. Dubois was stunned by a left jab in Round 10 taking a knee due to a badly swollen left eye - the result of a broken eye socket.

Dubois has trained hard for this bounce-back fight, sparring with Derek Chisora and cruiserweight Lawrence Okolie to get him ready. Working on improved defense and footwork was a priority with new trainer Shane McGuigan.

Before that stunning loss to Joyce, he had six KO/TKO victories dating back to his last decision win Oct. 6, 2018, against Kevin Johnson in Leicester.

Bogdan Dinu (+1000)

Dinu (20-2, 16 KOs) is a heavy underdog, but he actually comes in as the hotter fighter with two consecutive victories. The Romanian-born pugilist is 34 years old, posting back-to-back TKO wins over Osborn Machimana and Frank Bluemle in a pair of fights in Bulgaria after a pair of KO losses in the States against Jarrell Miller and Kubrat Pulev Nov. 17, 2018, and March 23, 2019, before the COVID pandemic.

Dubois vs. Dinu: Odds, predictions and picks

Dubois (-2500) should be able to bounce back in a big way and make quick work of Dinu (+1000), but you cannot risk 25 times your potential return, or just a $4 profit on a $100 wager. That's too risky, especially for a heavy favorite that just lost last time out.

Instead, focus on the method of victory. It's still rather expensive, but DUBOIS BY KO/TKO/TECHNICAL DECISION OR DQ (-650) is worth playing lightly, if you want action on the fight. No way Dinu takes him the distance. However, a better bet is to take 4 ROUNDS OR MORE (-135), for how many rounds the bout will go? That's one of the only ways to turn a profit without considerable risk tied into your wager.

In addition, you can play in the Round Group Betting 2 section, where I like DUBOIS IN ROUNDS 5-8 (+240) for a chance to more than double up. Normally I suggest a block of rounds to choose, but there is less risk here.
