2022 AT&T Byron Nelson odds, picks and PGA Tour predictions

The next stop on the PGA Tour schedule is the AT&T Byron Nelson, with players heading from D.C. to Dallas. The event will be hosted by TPC Craig Ranch for the second year in a row, and the stars will be out in this tune-up before the PGA Championship. Below, we look at the 2022 AT&T Byron Nelson odds and make our PGA Tour picks and predictions to win.

Scottie Scheffler headlines the field this week, getting the chance to play in his hometown of Dallas. The same goes for Jordan Spieth and Ryan Palmer, as well as Harry Higgs. Scheffler is the No. 1 golfer in the world, but he's not the only top-10 player teeing it up this week. Justin Thomas (8), Spieth (9) and Sam Burns (10) are all in the field, too.

TPC Craig Ranch took over as the host for the AT&T Byron Nelson in 2021, and it will remain the host for the next 4 years. The course opened in 2004 and was designed by Tom Weiskopf. It spans 7,468 yards and plays to par 72.

Will Zalatoris (+1500)

Zalatoris is one of the hometown kids teeing it up this week, having grown up in Dallas. He's in the midst of a terrific season, finishing no worse than tied for 6th in his last 3 events; one was match play and the other was the two-man Zurich Classic.

Thanks to his familiarity with TPC Craig Ranch, I love Zalatoris' odds at +1500. He's one of the best ball-strikers on tour and as long as he putts decently this week, he'll be in contention, just as he was last year when he tied for 17th.

Sam Burns (+2000)

Burns might be the most underrated player on tour, winning twice already this season and coming in 2nd once - which was his last start at the Zurich Classic. Burns ranks 7th in birdie average and 10th in greens in regulation, performing well in every phase of the game.

He finished solo second at this event last year and I think he'll be high up on the leaderboard once again this season.

2022 AT&T Byron Nelson picks - Contender

Ryan Palmer (+8000)

Palmer tied for 47th at the AT&T Byron Nelson last year at 11-under, failing to take advantage of a course he's played countless times. He told GolfWeek that he holds the record at the course, shooting a 60 or 61 about 10 years ago.

When I'm taking a mid-tier contender, I'll go with the guy who's gone really low at the course hosting an event. Palmer fits that bill at +8000.

2022 AT&T Byron Nelson picks - Long shot

Kurt Kitayama (+10000)

Kitayama has quietly been in contention a few times this season, including last week at the Wells Fargo Championship. A third-round 76 sank him and led to a T-15 finish despite breaking 70 in the other 3 rounds. He also tied for 2nd at the Mexico Open the week prior.

I'll ride this heater at +10000.
