This will be the 3rd meeting between these teams since Feb. 19. Houston topped Memphis 72-64 as a 14.5-point home favorite on Feb. 19 and came out on top with a 67-65 victory as a 4.5-point favorite in Memphis last Sunday. The Under cashed in both games.
Memphis has likely secured an NCAA Tournament berth just by reaching this game, but becoming just the 3rd team to defeat Houston this season and winning the AAC Championship would be a feather in its cap.
Cougars coach Kelvin Sampson will be looking to get his team out of this game healthy and ready to go in the opening round of March Madness with the No. 1 seed in the South Region likely wrapped up. Houston may be without AAC Player of the Year G Marcus Sasser, who aggravated a hamstring injury Saturday. It would benefit the Cougars to let him sit and heal up for a potential National Championship run, even if it means the AAC championship game being closer than they'd like.
