Cleveland Cavaliers at Atlanta Hawks odds, picks and predictions

The Cleveland Cavaliers (40-21) travel to meet the Atlanta Hawks (27-34) Wednesday at State Farm Arena. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET. Let's analyze FanDuel Sportsbook's lines around the Cavaliers vs. Hawks odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

Season series: Cavaliers lead 3-0; Cleveland won the most recent meeting 116-95 in Atlanta on Jan. 20, covering as a 2-point favorite as the Under (231.5) cashed.

The Cavaliers won an emotional 105-104 game Tuesday night against the No. 1 seed in the East, the Boston Celtics. Cleveland was playing without leading scorer G Donovan Mitchell, who will also miss this game, due to a sore left knee which required a platelet-rich plasma injection.

Cleveland has won and covered 2 of the past 3 games while cashing the Under in all 3 games without Mitchell. G Max Strus (knee) also missed Tuesday's game, and C Evan Mobley (ankle) suffered an ankle injury in the 3rd quarter. The center was reportedly on crutches after the game, so his status for Atlanta in doubt.

The Hawks have won and covered 3 of the past 5 games, while going a respectable 7-3 straight up (SU) in the past 10 at home, including a 6-3 against the spread (ATS) run in the past 9 at State Farm Arena.

Cavaliers at Hawks picks and predictions

Prediction

Cavaliers 109, Hawks 106

Moneyline

The CAVALIERS (+114) are a risky play on the road, but worth a look. They were extremely risky in Cleveland Tuesday night, and beat the best team in the NBA down starters Mitchell and Strus. They also lost a 3rd started midway through the 3rd quarter with Mobley exiting. Still, Cleveland managed to overcome, showing its depth. Dean Wade came off the bench for 23 points and 8 boards in 21 minutes, hitting 6 triples in the process.

Cleveland has beaten the Hawks (-134) in all 3 meetings this season, and it is coming in with a lot of confidence after overcoming the Celtics.

Against the spread

The CAVALIERS +2.5 (-112) are the play if you're a little more on the conservative side, or you feel the Hawks -2.5 (-108) are going to win by just 1 or 2 points.

Cleveland has covered 4 in a row in this series, and 5 of the past 6 meetings. But if you like the Cavs, they're a better value on the moneyline.

Over/Under

UNDER 216 (-108) is the play with Mitchell, and his team-best 28.0 PPG on the shelf. In Cleveland's big win against Boston, the Under cashed rather easily. The total has gone low in all 3 games for the Cavs without Spida in the lineup.

The Hawks hit the Over in the win at MSG against the Knicks on Tuesday, but the Under is 5-2 in the past 7 outings. Both of these teams played Tuesday night, and then hopped a plane for the ATL. We could see some tired legs, especially in the 1st half.
