Miami Heat at Detroit Pistons odds, picks and predictions

Drew Phelps
Staff Writer

The Miami Heat (35-30) and Detroit Pistons (12-53) meet Friday at Little Caesars Arena. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Heat vs. Pistons odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

Season series: Miami leads 2-0

Miami tries to snap a 4-game skid on Friday night against the lowly Pistons in Detroit. They failed to cover the spread as a 3-point underdog on Wednesday against the Denver Nuggets, losing 100-88 as the Under (216.5) cashed. C Bam Adebayo's double-double (17 points and 13 rebounds) led 4 Heat starters scored in double-figures. Miami currently sits as the 8-seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs.

The Pistons beat the Toronto Raptors 113-104 on Wednesday night, their 3rd win in their last 4 outings. They covered the spread as a 3.5-point favorite and the Under (234) cashed. All 5 Detroit starters scored in double-figures led by a monster night from C Jalen Duran, who had 24 points and a career-high 23 rebounds.

Their last meeting was on March 5 with the Heat winning 118-110 in Miami. Detroit covered as an 11-point underdog and the Over (217.5) cashed.

Heat at Pistons picks and predictions

Prediction

Heat 109, Pistons 105

Moneyline

PASS.

The Pistons could win this game outright, but I would feel better about taking them plus the points rather than straight up on the moneyline despite the juicy odds. I'll save my bet for the spread and/or total instead.

Against the spread

BET PISTONS +7.5 (-105).

Detroit seems to be turning a corner late in the season. They have a good young core that seems to be gelling now. They have won 3 of their last 4 and covered the spread in 4 of their last 5. The Pistons also covered the spread in both of their matchups with the Heat this season. I love Detroit to keep this game tight, if not win.

Over/Under

PASS.

I do not see any advantage either way on this bet. These teams are 4-6 going over the total in the last 10 meetings.
