Kids can be fearless! Sometimes too fearless for their nervous parents. And even if your little darlings are on the meeker side of mild, we've all met the child whose idea of fun is climbing, jumping, swinging off everything in sight, or racing around at breakneck speed.

For these young daredevils, it's all about the thrill of the challenge, as they throw caution to the wind for the sheer joy of being alive. These kids are always raring to go and determined to triumph, regardless of the price they might pay in cuts and bruises.

Watch our Sportskind video above to see 10 fearless kids who put adults to shame with their daredevil stunts.

So, why are some kids more adventurous than others?

According to experts, the desire to push the envelope may be innate. Some people are just genetically programmed to take risks. It's not learned; it's in their DNA.

Some studies characterize thrill-seekers as high-energy, self-confident, independent thinkers who love change, intensity, and unpredictability. Others suggest daredevil kids aren't so much brave as unaware of the danger that surrounds them. Instead, they live for the moment, seeking an emotional high without necessarily thinking about the consequences of their actions.

Of course, as we age, reason tends to take over, and few people remain daredevils for life. But while their chutzpah lasts, the risk-takers among us are often admired, if only secretly. And, assuming there's no permanent damage, it's surely a case of no harm, no foul.
