Rafael Nadal laughs after Australian Open fan flips him off during match

When confronted with an agitated spectator at Melbourne Park on Thursday, all Rafael Nadal could do was laugh.

During the second round of the Australian Open, the men's world No. 2 had play momentarily halted in the second set of his match against 23-year-old American qualifier Michael Mmoh when a fan in the crowd began berating him (apparently for taking too long to serve) and flipped him the middle finger.

Nadal's reaction was one of both confusion and amusement, as if to say, "What? Me?"

As security officials escorted the woman out of the stadium, Nadal tapped the ball in the air to himself. He won the set 6-4 after winning the opener 6-1.

Fans have been able to attend the first major on the tennis calendar due to the low number of COVID-19 infections in Australia compared to other places in the world. Players had to complete an intense two-week quarantine to participate.

Spain's Rafael Nadal hits a return against Michael Mmoh of the US during their men's singles match on day four of the Australian Open.
