Little League baseball: Mojo's West End, IOOF win Portsmouth championships
PORTSMOUTH - Mojo's West End and IOOF claimed Portsmouth Little League championships on Saturday at Plains Field.
Mojo's West End beat Kane Insurance, 6-3 in the Plains Division championship, and IOOF beat VFW Post 168, 8-3 in the Central Division title game.
Mojo's West End rallies for win
Mojo’s West End scored five runs in the sixth inning to earn the 6-3 win over Kane Insurance in the Plains Division championship. Mojo's finished with a record of 16-2-1. Kane finished at 11-7.
Dreyton Srimouksavanh pitched a complete game for Mojo’s, allowing five hits and three runs (zero earned) over six innings, striking out three and walking one.
Dougie McCafferty led Mojo's with two hits, while Srimouksavanh, Henry Tridenti, Gabriel Fournier, and Robbie Emory all had one.
Everett Smith had two hits for Kane Insurance, while Deacon Souza-Underwood, Cody Shultz and Ryder Raizes all had one. Raizes allowed two hits and struck out eight over 4 1/3 innings.
Other players for Mojo's included Julian Serrano, Adrian Morin, Giovanni Lazzaro, Tyler Morin, Grant Weddleton, Billy Hensley, Aiden Cole. Brent Graham was the manager, and Gabe Thomas and Craig Thibodeau were coaches.
Trio hits IOOF to championship victory
Carter Dennen, Brody Ortlip, and Ben DeNuzzio all had three hits and led IOOF to an 8-3 win over VFW Post 168 for the Central Division title. IOOF finished the season with a record of 13-2.
Camden Sparks added two hits for IOOF, and Grady Jackson, Dennen and Kern all drove in two.
Peter Mullally homered for VFW, which led 3-0 after three innings. IOOF tied the game in the fourth, scored one in the fifth and four in the sixth.
Everett Morgan and Owen McCarthy both had two hits for VFW.
Other players for IOOF included Oscar Aldrich, Porter Ohr, Logan Witt, Axel Anderson, Wyatt James, and David Flavin. Adam Kern was the manager, and Tyler Jackson, Joe DeNuzzio and John Stebbins were coaches.
